The Christmas Lights in Hereford City for 2006 have been organised by Hereford City Council at a cost exceeding £50,000; The old lights were in a perilous state and had to be abandoned; The City Council, having contributed some £2,000 towards the Eign Gate lights in 2005, have leased lights for the rest of the City on a 3 year contract after which a different scheme can be used if required. The City Council have received a grant of £11,260 towards this cost for 2006. The costs payable by the City Council are as follows: Hereford Jarvis Services won the contract to erect/dismantle the lights and Owen Williams Ltd are invoicing for overseeing the Safety Supervision requirements - in addition Herefordshire Council are invoicing for providing advice and expertise.
